LIP (Audio Synchronization)

New new 9.2.4 eARC Model and never had to worry about this until I decided to watch The Batman on HBOMax, straight connection from Smart TV to Nakamichi. I have tested other streaming from TV to soundbar as well as through PS5 to soundbar, and never has this come up until now: The audio is delayed and nothing seems to fix it, including my attempts with LIP. TV Model: SONY BRAVIA X85J

The LIP option only seems to go one-way; Without being a technical guy, I get that this system cant jump ahead of the source as something like VLC on PC is so good at doing, so when I'm streaming something and there's a delay to the soundbar, what are my options, really? If LIP is it, this really sours me on streaming. As stated before, never had issues with audio-sync until now and it's such a bummer... thankfully it's someone elses streaming services; I'm not paying for it and more likely now than ever not to subscribe on my own.

Would like to not have this issue, though. Thoughts?

• Please try applying the following settings on your Sony X85J. Applying these settings will ensure the TV sends the right audio signals to your soundbar: https://www.helpdesk.nakamichi-usa.com/sony-tv-2021-audio
• Do also ensure that a HDMI 2.1 Cable is connecting the 9.2.4 eARC to your Sony A85J. The HDMI cable bundled with the soundbar is HDMI 2.1 compliant and should work.

If these resolutions do not help, please confirm if you face audio lag only while using other TV streaming apps available on your A85J, or with any other HDMI devices (connected either to the soundbar or TV HDMI inputs)

Using the cable provided by Nakamichi and corresponding with my earlier support reports (ARC works better for PS5 than eARC does for full 7.1 surround), I did force eARC prior to starting the movie (it's becoming clear my SONY TV is WACK). I thought eARC was supposed to be the best, and yet despite it's compatibility with half a dozen 2.1 compliant cables (using the one provided to me from Nakamichi to my TV), the delay is real with HBOMax tonight in a way nothing else has done, and I just dont get the LIP options as it just doesnt help in the slightest.

To answer your question about the LIP function: The Lipsync function delays any sound that is being played by the soundbar further by __Milliseconds (depending on the amount set). The default setting is 0MS, which does not add any delay. Unfortunately, it seems like your TV is sending audio signals that are already "delayed" vs video from HBO Max to the soundbar. In such cases, the only way to correct this would be via a TV specific setting.

Since there is distorted sound, please try the following in sequence

1. Soundbar Soft Reset, as well as Soundbar + TV Hard Reset:
Please follow the instructions in this guide. This will clear out any HDMI-CEC related bugs between the TV/soundbar that could have caused the loud volume burst:

2. Once done, Try playing the same movie on HBO Max to see if the sound is in sync with the video. If this does not help:

• Verify that the recommended audio settings in our guide here are still being applied by the TV (Click here to view the recommended audio settings for your TV)
• If the audio/video on your TV is still being delayed, you can try Sony's TV Guide here to see if their recommendations help.
